Weaving In The Wild is the creative home of Hermione Toulson. A craftsperson and facilitator, she works with plant materials sourced from her local environment to deepen her relationship with the natural world - and supports others to do the same. Hermione believes that through the practice of natural crafts, ethnobotany and ancestral skills, we can develop a deep sense of belonging, and address the cultural and spiritual disconnection that many of us feel. Working with our hands and natural materials whilst the fire crackles and birds sing, we find ourselves at the root of everything, understanding our human place in the world. This work is a way of practicing both resistance and reverence.
Hermione's creative practice is primarily focussed on traditional basketmaking and the alchemical process of botanical dyeing, but she can also be found spinning wool, tanning rabbit skins, foraging for wild foods and medicine, and roaming the lands and waters of Scotland.
Hermione is engaged in a life-long journey of discovery, with much time spent learning directly from plants and through experimenting and practicing with her own hands. Having worked for various Wildlife Trusts in community engagement, wellbeing and education, she is a skilled outdoor facilitator. She has also gained relevant qualifications in basketmaking, herbalism, and nature-based facilitation.

"I am developing my skills as a facilitator and craftsperson constantly. I do not facilitate workshops because I believe myself to be a an expert, but rather because I believe everyone should have the opportunity to connect with nature in this way. I am deeply grateful to the experienced, dedicated and generous people who have passed on their skills, inspired, supported and encouraged me."
