Plant Walk

Take a walk through the stunning Penicuik Estate to discover the vast variety of plants growing there and learn about their ethnobotanical uses. We will explore how the plants we find can be used for food, medicine, natural dyeing, fiber-crafts, and many other applications. At this time, many of the plants will be at their summer peak. Our exploration will include trees, medicinal herbs, and perhaps even some fungi.

I will draw on my skills as a basketmaker, natural dyer, and communty herbalist, and my experience working in nature conservation, to guideyou on a botanical adventure.  It is a wonderful way to spend a morning connecting with nature.

We will meet on the lawn in front of the main Penicuik House at 10am. Please note that the day visitors car park can get full on weekends, so you may need to park in town and walk up to the house.…
