The organic yarn comes from Garvald Home Farm, a biodynamic farm in the Scottish borders, and their small flock of Shetland x sheep.
This batch has been dyed with the herb of women and of dreaming; Mugwort. Each purchase comes with a hand printed linocut postcard which tells of the medicinal virtues and traditional uses of this plant.

Herbal Hanks - Mugwort
Naturally dyed yarns are of course not as colourfast as those dyed with ecologically damaging syntheic dyes. I have mordanted these yarns with a mineral mordant to fix the dye and tested them and found them to be reasonably lightfast and colourfast. However, please note that over time, washing, and exposure to light, the yarn may fade slightly. I recommend hand washing only when essential, in cold water .
